Acupuncture for chronic pain, fatigue, stress, mild depression, anxiety
Who benefits? I treat all sorts of things, but I specialize in working with those living with chronic pain and fatigue, stress, mild depression, and anxiety.
Who I am: I have been practicing acupuncture since 2003. Before I was an acupuncturist, I was a Thai massage therapist for about ten years. Essentially, I have been in the healing arts for almost 15 years. Along with being an acupuncturist and life coach, I am trained as an herbalist, so I will prescribe herbal medicine when needed and wanted. I also have been teaching meditation and yoga therapy for 13 years. I use a mixture of these modalities to enhance and support the healing process.
How my work is unique:
Transformation: Chronic pain and fatigue, stress, mild depression, and anxiety are pointing to an opportunity to wake up. Instead of simply looking to fix what is broken, a healing crisis can lead us toward a more profound inquiry. It can point to areas in our life–not just physical ones–that require nothing less than a transformation. Transformation is not about incremental change, which happens in a piecemeal fashion. Transformation is a profound, paradigmatic shift in the way we see and experience the circumstances in our lives and our health such that we no longer react to them in the same way. As a result of this profound shift in consciousness, we are left empowered to spontaneously heal.
The Relationship in Healing: It is my sense that the primary cause of healing is the relationship that exists between me and my patients. I am not saying that I am the causative factor in my patient’s healing. Instead, I am pointing to the relationship that is established between myself and my patients. If you read some reviews of my work on Yelp, you’ll see how critical that relationship is to me. In fact, for me, it’s everything. My patients say that their experience of working with me is absolutely unique because I am treating them not as a set of symptoms that need to be managed but as a human being with a whole life.
My primary aim is to be in dialogue with my patients to listen deeply and intuitively to where they are stuck and to create an environment where breakthroughs can happen in body, mind, and spirit. I spend a good portion of every treatment just listening asking the questions that will empower my patients in transforming their particular life circumstances. It’s my sense that ultimately the body heals itself. My job is to build a relationship catalyze that healing process.
Lab Testing: I do not rely exclusively on dialogue and intuition, though. When needed I use laboratory testing to assess such things as food sensitivities, vitamin deficiencies, cellular energy production, neural function, detoxification processes, fatty acid balance, etc. show essential nutrient and digestive system abnormalities that reveal root causes of symptoms. These tests allow the targeted use of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients, putting my patients on the road to true wellness by providing specific correction of nutritional imbalances. This also avoiding costly, time-consuming, trial and error processes and allows for nutritional support that is tuned to the individual needs of my patients.
